While cruising the aisles of the Giant Food Market, I’ve noticed quite a few shoppers holding their phones in one hand while pushing their carts with the other. Those with phones use a to-do application. For grocery listing, the best app for Android, iPhone, and on the Web is AnyList.com. AnyList is loaded with features and is intuitive to use. It’s free with a $10/year upgrade. I can’t do without it.
For recipes on your phone or computer, allrecipes.com is quite good. It has thousands of recipes, most with photos and many with how-to videos.
Now, kitchen items such as ovens, coffee brewers, and refrigerators have Wi-Fi connections, which can be controlled or enhanced on your phone. For the most part, these Wi-Fi options are solutions looking for a problem, with little value added.
Most importantly, if you have a new top-of-the-line smartphone, it will feature artificial intelligence. For Microsoft, it’s called Copilot; for Google/Android, it’s Gemini; for Apple, it’s ChatGPT. Ask AI to create a recipe for you, to evaluate your two favorite wines, or to comment on the health benefits of low-fat yoghurt, and its response will be quick, substantive, knowledgeable, and creative. Seek it out, use it, and be amazed. In this world of hype, AI is the real deal.
